CES Kenya Alumni
The CES Kenya Alumni represent the best of Kenyan youth. Their inspiring initiatives are already making a difference in families, communities and in other counties of Kenya.
With 750 students graduating from the CES Scholarship Program, there is a huge potential for outreach and development initiatives. CES Alumni began as a group in 2013 and is now recognized officially as a CBO (Community Based Organization). It has its own constitution, having the same goals and vision as its parent CES Kenya. Each graduate of the CES program is invited to become part of a group that believes, “as we plough back into the community — we become agents for positive change”.
Each alumnus makes a contribution towards a secondary scholarship for a needy student. The group comes together annually in December for their AGM. It is like a reunion where they can strengthen friendships, listen to motivational speakers, plan their next steps, elect executive leaders, enjoy a meal and then party together. The 2019 AGM was held at Kakamega Muslim SS. CES Canada Director Charles Mayenga was the honoured guest, addressing the group on the theme of “Healthy Living”.
Planned activities for 2020 include:
Support for Divine Providence Orphanage
Assisting victims of HIV/AIDS
Hospital visitations (e.g. Kakamega Cancer Centre)
Blood donations
Donating sanitary pads to CES schools
Hand-washing education projects
Tree planting
Sponsorship and mentoring of students
