Thanks to all who sponsored our 2023 Marathoners!

Thank you to all friends of CES who supported our participants in the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon this year.

We had set a goal to raise $10,000, and the final total announced through Race Roster (which handles the fundraising aspect of the Marathon) is $10,690. These funds will go towards helping young Kenyans gain an education to build a better future for themselves and their families.

This is nearly three times the $3,570 we raised at the Marathon in 2022.

Of the total in 2023, $6,600 will go towards our scholarship program so that fewer Kenyans from impoverished families are held back by their families’ difficult financial situations.

The remainder, $4,090 will go towards a project supported by CES board member Charles Mayenga – the Mama Truphena Nyangweso Mayenga Learning Resource Centre.

This project celebrates those mothers, among them Mama Truphena Nyangweso Mayenga, who is Charles’ mother. The learning centre is located on the beautiful hill of Itumbe Primary and Secondary Schools, Nyamira County KENYA, overlooking the Rift Valley to the east. A groundbreaking ceremony event took place October 31, 2022. In attendance were CES Directors Michael Frederiksen and Charles Mayenga. The entire school community, community leaders and local media were present to kick off the project.

CES supports this project. To contribute to the learning centre project, see CES’s donations page, and select Mama Truphena Nyangweso Mayenga Learning Resource Centre.
