How CES supports International Literacy Day

Women make up two-thirds of illiterate adults worldwide. Without an education or the ability to read and write, women often struggle with poverty. Completing the KCSE (Gr12) is critical in establishing literacy and numeracy skills for girls.

In rural western Kenya, CES works to provide education for those who cannot afford rising school fees. CES supports gender balance and equal opportunities for girls and boys. CES also encourages alumni to pursue higher learning in the sciences and technology.

On International Literacy Day, CES joins other charities in East Africa to promote basic skills for future success. The CESCED leadership program takes literacy skills to higher levels of inferencing, added comprehension, and awareness of text structure within modern communications.
